Old Goshen Trail Chapter, NSDAR, takes Americanism and The Flag of the United States of America seriously. Daughters never miss an opportunity to ‘raise their flags’ in honor of our country, in honor of the men and women who have served our country through the ages, and in honor of significant historical dates from our country’s history.
Members place The Flag of the United States of America around the historic 5th District Appellate Court House and the Illinois DAR Statue of Molly Pitcher and Tammy Duckworth on a regular basis to celebrate holidays and honor historic military service days. The landscaping surrounding this monument was refurbished by the Old Goshen Trail Chapter, NSDAR. The chapter's Plus One project encourages members to decorated neglected grave of veterans for Memorial Day.
Old Goshen Trail Chapter, NSDAR, dedicated a DAR marker at the grave of DAR Patriot Rhodam Allen. During Wreaths Across America, chapter members placed 194 wreaths on veterans' graves. Daughters gather along routes when “The Ride to the Wall” and HOOAH riders come through town. Chapter members signed cards for Honor Flight veterans to read on their flight to Washington, D.C.
Old Goshen Trail Chapter celebrates Constitutuon Week and distributes Activity Books to school age children.
DAR chapters were asked to engage in a meaningful act of community service as near as possible to October 11th—the anniversary of DAR's founding.
Organization of the chapter occurred April 9. 2011, and the chapter has been growing in membership and service to the community continually since. We are proud to be a Level 1 Chapter and have excelled in many areas.
