For more than a century, DAR members have encouraged patriotic activities and love of country. This love of country is evidenced in the multitude of patriotic projects supported by our members. As a national organization, we volunteer in Veterans Administration hospitals and non-VA facilities. We offer support to America’s service personnel in current conflicts abroad through care packages, phone cards, and other needed items. We sponsor special programs promoting the Constitution during its official celebration week of September 17-23. In fact, the DAR petitioned Congress for a Constitution Week observance in 1956. DAR participates in naturalization ceremonies, presents patriotic awards to deserving individuals including Outstanding Veteran Volunteer Award, DAR Good Citizens awards and metals, Reserve Officer Training Corp(ROTC/JROTC) medals, and Community Service Awards.
