CHAPTER REGENT

Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR is home to 120 members in service to the communities surrounding and including Barrington, Illinois.  These women are 20 to 90+ years of age, employed and retired, married and single – but all have verified their lineage to an American Revolutionary Patriot.

We love helping prospective members prove their lineage and encouraging new Daughters to get involved in our projects that support Education, Patriotism, Historic Preservation, and Conservation.  In the past 8 years we have increased our donations to local and national organizations each year, raising our philanthropic profile in the community.

•We collect comfort items for donation to VA Hospitals and for VA Stand Down for Homeless Veterans; we support Honor Flight Chicago with monetary donations and Thank You notes for the veterans’ mail call; we are a Commemorative Partner with Vietnam War Veterans.

•Active US troops are not forgotten – we sponsor “No Dough” dinners through the USO for Navy personnel at Great Lakes Naval Station and contribute and assemble packages for deployed troops.

•We recognize young students with essay contests and High School seniors with DAR Good Citizen Awards and scholarship funding; a portion of our donations are dedicated to Arts education for children in our communities and grants are provided to local libraries for digitizing historical files

•Support services for homeless women and children receive funding from Signal Hill Chapter, as do support services for those with aging family members.

•We give to local Historical Societies and historical building restoration projects.

•Our philanthropy includes funding to schools for Native Americans and support for the children of a South Dakota reservation.

•Conservation projects include cleanup and recycling initiatives, pollinator gardens, and funding community conservation organizations.

Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR is focused on service to the community and honoring our National history and Patriots.  We would love to assist you with your genealogy and welcome you into our Society.
