DAR honors 'Mr. Thanksgiving'

The Mary Little Deere-Fort Armstrong Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution recently awarded the DAR Community Service Award to Bob Vogelbaugh.

The chapter presented the award to Mr. Vogelbaugh, known as "Mr. Thanksgiving," on Nov. 20.

Mr. Vogelbaugh was recognized for his generosity to those in need, particularly relating to his Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner which got its start in 1970 and continues today.

The award, which is reviewed and approved at the state, region and national D.A.R. levels, is given to local people for outstanding achievements in educational, humanitarian, patriotic, historical or citizenship endeavors or environmental conservation. Recipients have contributed to the community in an outstanding voluntary heroic, civic or benevolent manner or participated in or organized community activities.
