Accomplishments of Daughters

Mrs. Charles H. Deere,
Moline Chapter, was elected to serve as Vice
President General from Illinois in 1905. She
later received the honor of being elected Honorary
Vice President General for life.

Mrs. William Butterworth, Mary Little Deere Chapter,
was elected Vice President General from Illinois and
elected Honorary Vice President General for life in
1923. Mrs. Butterworth was a generous supporter of
DAR. The last funds raised to complete payments on
Continental Hall were made by her with a $5,000
donation in memory of her mother, Mary Little Deere.

Mrs. Frank W. Bahnsen, Fort
Armstrong Chapter, served as the Illinois State Regent
during 1916-1918. Following her term in office, Mrs.
Bahnsen was elected Vice President General from
Illinois.

Mrs. William Jackson Sweeney,
Fort Armstrong Chapter, served as Illinois State
Regent, 1927-1929.

The Fort Armstrong Chapter
presented the first 49 star flag of the United States
of America to a Boy Scout troop in Rock Island.

Mrs. Robert Hartley, Mary Little
Deere Chapter, sewed the draperies for the Illinois
Room at the National DAR Building in Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Robert Magee, Fort
Armstrong Chapter, served as Illinois State Recording
Secretary for the 1995-1997 term.

Mrs. Robert Magee, Mary Little
Deere-Fort Armstrong, served as Illinois State Vice
Regent for the 2000-2002 term.

Kathryn Carey (Mrs. Roger),
served as Illinois State Registrar for the
2003-2005 term. She is presently serving as
Illinois State Organizing Secretary 2006-2008.
