La Grange - Le Portage Chapter

LaGrange, Illinois

To honor our Revolutionary War ancestors, members of the Daughters of the American Revolution promote patriotism, education, community service, and preservation of our nation's history and historic sites.

Our chapter name commemorates the historic expedition of Father Louis Joliet and Canadian-born fur trader Jacques Marquette. In 1673, these two men and their party of five others left the banks of the Des Plaines River to portage to Lake Michigan. In doing so, they traversed the area in which our chapter is located: La Grange, Illinois, and neighboring communities.
