Pearl Laurine Morrison, age 89, of Edwardsville, died at 7:45 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2009 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. She was born January 29, 1920 in Edwardsville, the daughter of the late William C. and Pearl (Wood) Knecht. She married James W. Morrison August 1, 1940 in Liberty Prairie, IL. He preceded her in death July 11, 1994. Besides her husband, she was preceded by her son, Gerald Lee Morrison; 3 brothers: William Eugene, Harold Eldon, and Howard D. Knecht; 2 sisters-in-law: Irene and Mary Knecht; and a brother-in-law, Howard Morrison. She is survived by 2 grandchildren: Alex Morrison of Edwardsville and Ann Morrison (and friend John Gillis) of Mabou, Nova Scotia. a daughter-in-law, Theresa Morrison of Edwardsville; and 2 sisters-in-law: Elaine Knecht of Glen Carbon, IL and Elinor (the late Howard) Keys of Beason, IL; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mrs. Morrison and her husband owned and operated Morrison Farm Supplies in Edwardsville for many years, retiring in 1971. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Edwardsville. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, chapter 667, a Grand Lecturer for 40 years, a Grand Officer of Illinois in 1983, Grand Representative of Missouri and Illinois in 1989, Dual member of Unity Chapter OES of Marine, member of the Grand Representatives Club of Illinois, and a member of the Appointed Grand Officers of Illinois Club. She was a member of Al Sihah Temple #92, Daughters of the Nile, a member of Edwardsville Drucilla Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Women of the Moose, Chapter 82, Edwardsville Republican Women, and the Senior Citizens of Edwardsville.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Edwardsville. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2009 at the church with Pastor Stephen Disney officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be given to Edwardsville Drucilla Andrews Chapter Scholarship at SIU-E or First Baptist Church in Edwardsville.

Laurine Morrison's Grave was marked with the insignia of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolutuion on March 9th, 2013, at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville, Illinois.
